Top: Poppy Red Blouse – J. Crew, Sweater – Forever21
Bottom: Grey Slim Leg Cords- Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes: Wedges – Banana Republic
I love this oufit. We had a Thanksgiving Lunch to go to with the whole family. I put together this outfit with in mind a holiday spirit. The bright poppy colored blouse paired with a shimmery sweater. The cords give the outit a more casual yet still polished look.
The J. Crew blouse is a staple in my closet because it can be dressed up or down. The down side of it is that it’s very thin (it thins in some places) and easily wrinkled. This Forever21 sweater is from their LOVE21 collection. Very soft and buttery to the touch, I love that it sparkles with metallic fibers woven through the sweater. The 3/4 length sleeve was perfect for today’s Thanksgiving weather. Very low 60’s, sun shine and a light breeze.
It was amazing to get together with my family. We had a blast and I loaded up on turkey. I think that’s it for my turkey day! Happy Thanksgiving!
I wanted to wear a military styled outfit since there’s a Blogger’s Do It Better Challenge. I realized that I had given many military styled clothing away – either to my mom or donated it. I had a perfectly green military trench and a purple military coat about 1 month ago.
The morning of these pictures, there was quite a breeze around. I dressed warmly in this Zara sweater. The sweater is just the right size for me, not to short or long. It does have a boxy cut. The only complaint I have is the wool – very scratchy. I might have to wear a shirt underneath to help with the roughness. I’ve been having these pants since the summer. I like it very much. I think the straight lines of the pants and the coloring pulls a military vibe. I love the strappy shoes by Loft. It is sexy and comfy. Though after a week of walking in heels, my ankles are starting to scream.
What else should I add to this outfit?
I didn’t really like the Lace Yoke Tee. I thought it was a bit too much when I first opened the box. I however love the Pink Cords. They are super soft and very comfy. It is a really lightweight corduroy, not a thick material at all. I don’t know why I wanted PINK pants, but I got them anyway. I thought to myself what can go with this pair of pants? Well I didn’t have anything else but the Lace Yoke Tee, so why not try it on. When I looked in the mirror, I thought to myself, “I look completely different!” What shoes do I have to kick it up an extra notch? My booties.
For an EXTRA kick, I curled some pieces of my hair with my flat iron to give it a tousled look. So my Rocker Chic Look was born. I feel empowered and younger. Wait till you see the demure PTO outfits that are coming up for review and you’ll know why this unexpected outfit made my day.
Is there an outfit that empowers you?

When I saw this outfit on Ann Taylor Loft’s site, I knew I had to have it. But the sweatshirt was consistently unavailable. Using the Loft item Store locator still brought up ZERO found. I just needed this sweatshirt. I have a similar blazer, jeans, and shoes. So my search ended when I decided to just go to my nearby Loft store. And they had a rack full of these sweatshirts from XS-L. Unbelievable!
YIPPEE! I felt so good. So I used by Birthday Coupon from Loft, and got this top originally $44.99, 40% off plus a $15 off Birthday coupon, totals to =
$11.99. Awesome deal.
The XS on me was more fitted. I liked it more than a S. But it is a sweatshirt French terry material, it will shrink. I just pulled the sleeves up a bit so the sleeves wouldn’t bunch at my wrists. The look is very cool, classy, and charming.
Any amazing deals have you ran across?
Total Head to Toe look = $42.95
This is a casual yet work appropriate outfit. I really like the beading detail on the tee. It gives a basic tee the right amount of sparkle and ups the dress the factor. The skirt is very comfortable and form fitting. The shoes are beautiful strappy pumps that are cushy and only for $12.48!
Altogether this outfit cost me $42.95 at Target.com. It is an unbelievable deal that looks a lot more expensive than it actually is.
Is this a good $50 Outfit for work?
I saw this outfit in J. Crew’s most recent catalog. But all the items totalled to be very expensive. I decided to research and see where I can get the separates for a much cheaper price.
Total Outfit by J. Crew = $643.50
Top: Anne Klein Novelty Blouse – $47.40
Bottom: Talbots Signature Fit Cord – $27.29 – Few Sizes Left
Alternative Pants: VS Pencil Pant in Corduroy – $47.60
Shoes: ASOS Scala Court – $44.93
Handbag: Fossil Lola Hobo – $104.99
Total Outfit: $224.61 ~ $244.92
Which outfit would you buy? J. Crew or the cheaper one?
I was watching this video on Disney Channel with my kids when Megan my 3yr old shouted “Mommy, that’s your shirt!”
I looked up from whatever I was doing and was surprised to see the shirt I was then wearing on TV. “Well what do you know. I’m pretty fashionable,” I told her kiddingly.
This top is from Ann Taylor Loft Summer 2011 collection. It is called the Hidden Placket Button Front Shirt.
The shirt is unfortunately sold out, but keep looking for it on eBay. I saw a few but they were in a grey color.
I saw this Loft outfit for the Fall 2011 collection. I instantly wanted it. But further looking at it, I realized that I have a similar dress, shoes and scarf. I didn’t like the jacket on the model. So I didn’t use one in my outfit.
What do you think? With or without the jacket?
I have been obsessed with Loft clothing lately. I don’t know why. Outfits like the one of the left are very attractive to me. I think i can wear this outfit and be comfortable. It has that relaxed style yet looks sexy at the same time. Not only can I wear jeans with this outfit, I can also wear trousers.
Though I had tried on the shirt, it seemed to not fit me very well. They only had a XS and a M. I’m a S. The XS fit but was kind of tigh around the arms. But the waist sat very awkwardly on my frame.
I am going to try to keep looking for a similar outfit and coloring that fits better. Hopefully it is out there.
